COVID Indicators Continue to Drop in Jalisco

COVID Indicators Continue to Drop in Jalisco

With the advance of vaccination in Jalisco, and the prevention measures implemented, the state keeps the hospitalizations, positivity rate, and confirmed cases of COVID-19 down each week.

This last week also saw a decrease in deaths, reaching zero notifications in one day for the first time. In the case of the 42 deaths reported today, it should be noted that only thirteen occurred in the last 15 days, while the rest date back several weeks, and just today were notified on the national platform.

It is important to remember that the registration of reported deaths may be delayed, so what is reported in any day can be a culmination of previous days, or even weeks. Each institution must report deaths to the Epidemiological Surveillance System for Viral Respiratory Disease.

The Jalisco Health Secretariat (SSJ) invites the population not to lower their guard,  maintain all preventive measures, and go to be vaccinated when their age group is summoned to continue making progress in returning to activities. Vaccines are safe and effective in preventing serious complications from this disease. It is important to remember that immunity against the coronavirus is reached, starting 15 days after the application of the second dose (or only dose in the case of single-dose vaccine.) Even vaccinated people can catch and spread the coronavirus, therefore prevention measures must be maintained.

The pandemic is active and therefore the entire population must wear properly positioned masks, this simple measure can reduce the risk of contagion by up to 90%, stay for only a short time in public spaces, maintain a distance of 1.5 meters between people, and wash their hands and faces frequently with soap and water, or use 70% alcohol gel.

In case of presenting symptoms such as persistent cough, respiratory distress, fever that does not subside, or blood oxygenation decreases to less than 92, you should go to an emergency unit and not wait for a confirmatory test of COVID-19.

Since March 14, 2020 - the day the first two patients were notified in Jalisco - to date there have been 249,199 confirmed cases in the entity, detected thanks to the RADAR System; as well as a total of 12,044 confirmed deaths from the SARS-CoV-2 virus infection.
