Over 17,000 People Aged 50-59 Vaccinated in the South and Coast Areas

With greater agility and less waiting time, the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 advances in the regions of Puerto Vallarta, Tamazula, and Ciudad Guzmán, where people between 50 and 59

years of age and pregnant women from 25 municipalities can go to be vaccinated.

On its second day, the accumulated number of vaccines applied for this age group reaches 17,399 doses, mostly in Puerto Vallarta.  Meanwhile, 443 pregnant women have come to the different locations to be protected with the first application of the Sinovac pharmaceutical company.

This group being a priority for Jalisco, future mothers with more than nine weeks of gestation, and over 18 years of age, are invited to register and go to the corresponding headquarters to their place of residence.

The dates for this area continue until May 25. Of the total doses assigned for the area, the progress of the percentage of vaccination already reaches 36.1%.

Vaccines are safe and effective in preventing serious complications from this disease. It is important to remember that immunity against the coronavirus is reached starting 15 days after the application of the second dose (or only dose in the case of a single dose.) Even vaccinated people can catch and spread the coronavirus, therefore prevention measures must be maintained.

The SSJ reminds that the pandemic is active and therefore invites the entire population to use face masks properly (this simple measure can reduce the risk of contagion by up to 90 percent,) stay for a short time in public spaces, maintain a distance of 1.5 meters between people, and wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use 70% alcohol gel.

In case of presenting symptoms such as persistent cough, respiratory distress, fever that does not subside, or blood oxygenation decreases to less than 92, you should go to an emergency unit and not wait for a confirmatory test of COVID-19.

Since March 14, 2020, the day the first two patients were notified in Jalisco, to date there have been 249,109 confirmed cases in the entity, detected thanks to the RADAR System, as well as a total of 12,002 deaths confirmed by the infection of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
