My family and I have a lot of electronics, which means there is bound to be a phone or computer that ends up broken or in need of repairs every so often. But for the longest time, we never really knew what the best repair shop to take our devices to was.
And many other people have that same problem of not knowing where they can trustfully take their electronics. That is, until we found ProCell, located at Local #12 in Punto de Technologia, or Technology Point, at Plaza Caracol.
A couple of years ago my dad was having problems with the keyboard on his MacBook, as some of the keys stopped working, and those that did work were sticking and hard to push. He didn’t know where to take his computer, but since he was going to California in a couple of months he figured he would wait and take it to some place in the US. And, he actually ended up taking it to an Apple Store. But not too long after that he started experiencing keyboard problems, again. And this time he wasn’t going to go back to California, and he didn’t know where to take his computer. So, he simply decided that he would have to deal with it. But, shortly after that my phone got dropped, and the whole screen came completely off. We, again, didn't know where to go, but ended up going to ProCell, just to give it a shot. And, to our surprise, we were told that yes, it could be fixed, but it would be better to get a different phone since it would cost nearly the same to get it fixed. From then on we knew it was an honest shop, and they were bound to do good work. So, my dad ended up taking his laptop there!
The technician, Fer, didn’t only find problems with the keyboard (including being glued on instead of screwed in) but she also found quite a few problems on the inside of the computer. Some of the parts were not in the right place, and a lot of the screws were the wrong type or size. Also, there was a bit of water damage. But she was able to notice the problems and fix them, unlike the Apple Store. And the main reason that she is such a great technician is because she loves her doing job and is passionate about it!
She has actually been interested in electronics since she was a little girl; about ten years old, and she would watch relatives and other technicians work. It was super interesting to her, and she thought it would be a fun thing to learn. So, once she was in High School she took a few beginner classes on electronics and repairing them. And, she knew that she wanted to do this for a living. So when high school was over she didn’t go to university and she started taking classes again, this time more advanced. So far, she has taken a total of 12 classes, but she will take another class if needed or given the chance, and she’s always learning new skills.
She can pretty much repair or replace any and all parts from any type of phone, computer, or other electronic device, including the memory drives in newer MacBooks and iPhones that are soldered in place. But, if the repair price is over 70% of the original price, she does not recommend to fix it, and she will tell you that! She is not interested in getting as much money as possible; she is interested in genuinely helping you, even if that means she won’t earn anything.
