Responsible Verification Program and the Temporary Stay Pass

Responsible Verification Program and the Temporary Stay Pass

Last Friday, the Government of Jalisco announced that as of the first day of August 2021, the Responsible Verification Program (PVR,) will come into force for citizens in general.

The obligation begins with private vehicles that have license plates ending in the number 7, and intensive use vehicles with license plate numbers ending in 3 and 4, and will continue to apply to the rest of the license plate finishes according to the official calendar.

The Responsible Verification guarantees that the vehicles in circulation comply with the maximum permissible limits of polluting emissions established by federal regulations.

However, not all vehicles that circulate in Jalisco with plates from other entities reside in this state. There are vehicles that only come to visit, to carry out a procedure, or simply cross our entity to reach another destination. For these cases, the temporary Stay Pass is made available.

It is very important to mention that, currently this pass is only required if you are going to visit the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG.) It is a free and easy procedure to carry out for visitors, and provides a filter to help guarantee that vehicles that circulate permanently in Jalisco, and have plates from other entities, comply with the obligation to perform the Responsible Verification test.

This requirement does not restrict entry or transit through Jalisco. It is an official document that serves to verify that you are not a resident, so you are not obliged to carry out a vehicle verification according to the regulations. The State Law of the Ecological Balance and Environmental Protection in Vehicle Verification establishes that:

Vehicles of other entities that circulate through the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG) on a temporary basis, can process a Temporary Stay Pass for free. It is valid for 20 calendar days and is processed only once a semester (these 20 days can be administered at the user's convenience.)

Foreign vehicles that circulate for a period greater than 20 calendar days are considered permanent vehicles and must comply with the current Mobility and Transportation Law.

Vehicles of permanent stay, whether private or for intensive use, must carry out the Responsible Verification as of August 1, in accordance with the set calendar. It can be consulted at:
