Jalisco Participates in the Fruit Attraction Expo 2021 in Madrid

The state Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development supports producers to display their products and conclude commercial agreements.

In Madrid, Spain, the Fruit Attraction 2021 fair began, with the presence of more than a thousand companies producing fruit and vegetables from 44 nations of the world, including Mexico and, of course, Jalisco; a leading state in the country's agri-food production.

Salvador Álvarez García, head of the office of the Jalisco Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER,) highlighted the importance of returning to the exhibitions to boost state production once again. He recalled that through the General Directorate of Agrifood Competitiveness, “we have worked closely with organizations of small and medium producers, to guarantee the opening of markets and strengthen the ties that have previously been opened in various production chains.”

"We are in a very important moment of economic reactivation not only in Jalisco, but throughout the world. And I think it is a fact that for everyone this fair is an opportunity for us to strengthen our commercial relations and open other markets," remarked the state official.

In this context, SADER-Jalisco has a space that brings together nine Jalisco organizations and companies that produce mango, berries, fig, and avocado; such as the Association of Exporting Producers of Jalisco Avocados, Grupo Aguacatero Los Cerritos, H52, Berries Paradise, Colimán, Agroparking, EMEX, Deliseo, and Mevi.

The director of Agrifood Competitiveness, Alejandro Velázquez Santillanes, indicated that for SADER-Jalisco it is very important that producers can obtain all the information on the specialized commercial offer in the Spanish and European markets in the fresh area, as well as conclude distribution agreements.

“We are reactivating business promotion activities after the pandemic. In particular, this fair is very important for producers and companies in Jalisco, because it allows them access to the European and Middle Eastern market, by promoting their products and linking with clients abroad that allow them to increase their sales and competitiveness.”

After the United States, the European Union is the main destination for fresh produce from Jalisco.

The official indicated that the participants, in addition to accessing markets, through presentations and round tables are learning about trends and new technologies that can position Jalisco as an important exporter worldwide.

He explained that this is achieved through the Jalisco 2021 Export Promotion Project, the purpose of which is to provide companies in the state agri-food sector with access to new markets, by promoting their products.
