Jalisco Promotes Safety, Security, and Professionalism of Tourist Industry

The Jalisco Ministry of Tourism and the Mexican Association of Western Travel Agencies signed an agreement to raise the level of professionalization of travel agencies for the benefit of tourists and the state.

To promote economic reactivation and contribute to the professionalization of the sector for the benefit of tourists, the Ministry of Tourism of Jalisco (SECTURJAL,) signed an agreement with the Mexican Association of Western Travel Agencies of Jalisco (AMAV,) to implement actions of training, growth, and updating of these tourism companies and in turn, promote the destinations of the state in recovery.

AMAV Jalisco is made up of retail travel agencies, wholesalers, DMC, tour operators, and other companies related to the tourism industry, with the aim of granting a guarantee of service and security to their clients.

The objective is to provide strategies and tools to professionalize, update, and strengthen the valuable work carried out by this union, in the current complex economic scenario derived from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“On Travel Agent Day, we recognize the efforts of these tourism professionals through the signing of this agreement, which will support the agencies belonging to the AMAV Jalisco with training. By strengthening their businesses with different actions, they will be able to offer a better service to tourists and better face the challenges of the so-called new normal,” commented the head of the agency, Germán Kotsiras Ralis Cumplido.

"Due to the serious effects on the tourism sector due to the health contingency, in this agreement special emphasis is placed on the teaching of courses on the responsible management of tourism and health protocols, so that they can be implemented correctly and take care first of all the health of employees and visitors,” added Ralis Cumplido.

On the part of the AMAV de Occidente, the document was signed by its president, Juan Felipe Lozano Rodríguez, who believes that this agreement will boost the growth of these companies.

“The trust and collaboration between the secretariat and travel agencies is reaffirmed, which are a pillar in the economic reactivation, because when through promotion people fall in love and want to travel to Jalisco, the state travel agencies are the main ones in charge of marketing it.”

Additionally, SECTURJAL will support the management so that accredited agencies that comply with the guidelines can obtain the Safe Travel Seal granted by the World Travel and Tourism Council, the highest authority worldwide on this topic.

Among the training areas contemplated in the agreement, attention to tourists, inclusion and non-discrimination of people, innovation and technology with a focus on marketing, among others, stand out.

In addition, to promote the reactivation and recovery of tourism in Jalisco, SECTURJAL will offer training and new tourism products of the main destinations and municipalities in the interior, so that travel agents become promoters of our state.
