Puerto Vallarta Eliminates Immigration Form To Speed Up Arrivals
Travel News Hits: 737

We have great news for travelers heading to the fascinating Mexican destination Puerto Vallarta soon. The airport entry for international visitors will be easier and more efficient for tourists, which is what we all need right now.

As part of the strategy approved by the National Migration Institute (INM by its Spanish acronym), Puerto Vallarta International Airport has recently announced that the immigration form will no longer be required for international travelers.

The elimination of the Formato Migratorio Múltiple (FMM), as the form is called, is part of a pilot test implemented by the Mexican government in selected airports to speed up the security process upon arrival.

According to the information shared by the Mexican travel news outlet Nitu, travelers arriving at this airport will no longer need to show the form —neither printed nor digital— and will only have to go through basic security protocols and present their passports for the quick interview with migration agents.

Puerto Vallarta is not the first top Mexican destination chosen to eliminate this form. A few days ago, it was also announced that Cancun will no longer require international travelers to present the FMM. Puerto Vallarta joins a new strategy that just started in specific touristic destinations.

Since the beginning of 2022, Puerto Vallarta has received over 1 million tourists from foreign countries and expects to maintain international travelers’ interest. Travelers should just bear in mind that the elimination of this form has only been approved at specific airports and it is still required in other destinations.

Stress-Free Arrival At Puerto Vallarta Airport

Now travelers do not have to stress about filling out the immigration form or waiting for hours at the airport before reaching their accommodations. The waiting time at the airport will be reduced. Authorities have estimated that it will now take travelers about 10 minutes to go through immigration upon arrival.

Puerto Vallarta International airport has 14 immigration filters and currently about 20 migration agents working at the revision stations. Local authorities expect that without the migration form the process can go even faster and official agents can speed up the system.

In addition, the new Terminal 2 at Puerto Vallarta International Airport is under construction. The new modern building will be NetZero —it will cut greenhouse gas emissions to near zero— and will reduce both electricity costs by 40.78% and water consumption by 58.3%. It will also have high-technology security systems for baggage revisions.

The new terminal is expected to open its doors in October 2024 and will have the capacity to welcome 4.5 million passengers a year. More tourists will be welcome and an optimized modern space will also improve passengers’ experience during their visit to this top destination.
