The Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta Appoints Chef Hector Martinez

The Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta is proud to welcome Hector Martinez as its new Executive Chef.

In this new role, Chef Martinez will ensure the ongoing quality and reliability of the resort’s menu offerings, especially the EatWell and SleepWell options that are signature to the Westin brand. The former coconut palm tree plantation turned oceanfront wellness resort offers guests fresh, seasonal, and healthy options throughout the resort’s food and beverage establishments.

Born and raised in Nayarit, Mexico, Chef Martinez started his successful career in 1990, beginning as a line cook and working his way up to sous chef and ultimately, executive chef. His passion for the craft, professionalism and proven track record of success have helped him establish a long-standing career amongst numerous Marriott International properties and brands. During his 30-year tenure he has held positions at and supported global Marriott properties including: Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort, Marriott Panama, W Punta de Mita, Courtyard Aeropuerto CDMX, Sheraton Monterrey, Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa – and now, Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta.

“We are so pleased that Chef Hector Martinez has joined the Westin family,” says Elsa Perez, Director of Sales & Marketing.

“Given his deep roots with the Marriott portfolio, as well as within Mexico, we know he will continue to honor the food culture that the state of Jalisco and Puerto Vallarta is known for, while modernizing concepts and experiences with his unique passion for the craft.”

Chef Hector Martinez resides in Puerto Vallarta with his wife and three children. When he is not in the kitchen for both work and fun, he enjoys traveling, biking, walking and checking out what’s new at the movie theatre.
