Rain of Medals Continues for Jalisco for Artistic Gymnastics in CONADE Nationals

From the hand of Juan Pablo Dueñas from Jalisco, Jalisco added its first gold medal in the artistic gymnastics activity corresponding to the CONADE Nationals, an event that celebrated its second day of competitions this Thursday.

With a score of 68.250 at the end of his six devices, Dueñas took over the podium, and secured the final in each of them.

Jalisco also managed to make it 1-2 through David Fregoso, who totaled 66.350 points to win the silver medal; while Ythán Calderón from Potosí won the bronze, with 65.400 points.

Dueñas had the floor with his best device, in which it closed with the best qualification; so this Saturday, when the finals of each category are held, the state of Jalisco hopes to increase its harvest of gold metals, and again appear as one of the highest medalists of the Jalisco delegation at the end of this fair, a title that he held at the 2017 National Olympiad when at the age of 9, he hung three gold medals, two silver, and one bronze.

Then Friday, Jalisco-born Abraham González won the gold medal of the All-Around category 12-13 years in the men's artistic gymnastics of the Conade 2021 Nationals, held at the Pan-American Complex of the López Mateos Sports Center.

In a close fight with Sergio Martínez, the young Jaliscan won the golden medal thanks to a great rotation closure in the pommel horse, which allowed him to collect 69.750 total points, leaving Martínez with 68.950 and the silver medal. The bronze went to Leonel Villarreal, from Nuevo León, who added a total of 68,850 points.

During the morning shift, which had the female activity in the 13-14 year category, the winner was Gabriela Mendoza, from Potosi, who obtained the gold medal with a score of 34.999, leaving Nicole Carothers from Jalisco with second place, and in third another local contender Ana Calzada, with 34.215.

In the team awards, Jalisco was the absolute winner, crowned with 102.779 points, while Nuevo León received silver after accumulating 99.147, and Estado de México, bronze, with 98.346.

The artistic gymnastics will conclude today with the activities of the finals by apparatus starting at 9:00 am.
