Delgado and Galindo Winners of Belfort Mountain Cycling Cup in Zapotlan el Grande

This Saturday, at the Las Peñas Ecological Park in Zapotlán el Grande, the seventh date of the Jalisco Cup of Belfort Bikes mountain biking was held, with the participation of about 300 mountain bike riders

from every corner of the state. Taking the championship was Rocio Delgado on the Women’s Elite category, and Luis Galindo in the Men’s Elite category.

On a track slightly shorter than the rest of those used throughout the series, since it does not quite reach four kilometers, the hundreds of competitors faced adverse weather conditions and a difficult track. With scorching heat of more than 30 degrees, cyclists were challenged by a circuit full of very technical parts, and very steep descents cut abruptly by steep and winding climbs, conducive to generating collisions between riders of the different categories.

A strong wind made conditions worse, kicking up dust amongst the riders, which further complicated race conditions. And in these circumstances, the first to cross the finish line in the men's Elite challenge was Luis Galindo, while Rocío Delgado finished in the lead of the women's branch of the same category.

The competition was played in the Children's, Youth, Under-23, Elite, and Advanced categories, both in the women's and men's branches. The next stage of the Jalisco Belfort mountain biking Cup for the West AC Mountain Cycling League will be on Saturday and Sunday, June 12th and 13th in Arandas, in the Altos Sur Region.
