Two More Mexicans go to Semifinals of Boxing Qualifier for the Junior PanAm Games

Two more Aztec boxers inscribed their names on the semifinals card of the Pan American Boxing Qualifying Tournament for the Cali 2021 Junior Pan American Games.

This after the third day of event activities taking place in the Dome of the Alcalde Sports Center in Guadalajara. 

In the men's division, Kevin Cantabrana defeated the American Quincey Edward Williams by unanimous decision after three episodes in the welterweight division, signing his name on the semifinal list.

On her side, the Jaliscan fighter Margarita Murguía was more forceful in taking her victory, as she defeated the Dominican Nooanny Núñez by abandonment at the beginning of the third round in the flyweight division. 

The other Aztec boxers who participated in the day were Jorge Nieto, who fell to the Brazilian Ronald Ribeiro in flyweight, Brandon Mejía, who succumbed to the American Julius Yasir Ballo in featherweight, and José Ismael López, who fell to the Venezuelan Jeremy Álvarez at middleweight. 

Cantabrana and Murguía join Yahir Gallardo, Ángel López, Aarón Amaro, Rosa de la Cruz, Gema Morales, María Guadalupe Rodríguez and Darianne Hernández, who will be representing Mexico in the semifinals tournament of the Cali 2021 Junior Pan American Games. 

The semifinals will be completed this afternoon, July 17, starting at 12:00 in the Dome of the Alcalde Sports Center. Admission to the general public is free, and capacity is limited by the guidelines established by the State Government's Board of Health. Facemasks, of course, will be required, as well as the use of hand gel.
