Chávez Vs Camacho: Ready for the Tribute to the Kings

"Tribute to the Kings" will face the legendary Julio César Chávez against Héctor "Macho ”Camacho Jr, in which it will be the last presentation in the ring of the great Mexican champion Julio Cesar Chavez. The event will take place this Saturday, June 19, at the Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara.

The mythical Aztec fighter acknowledged that Saturday's fight will be his last exhibition, and reiterated what he has said since the lawsuit with Camacho Jr was announced, that he will give him the beating of his life, so that he does not want to box again.

“This is my last exhibition, my body can't take it anymore. I agreed to fight with Camacho's son out of respect for his father, and although he is much younger than me, I am sure that I am going to give him the beating of his life, and he will not want to box again, "said the top boxing figure in the country.

Camacho Jr pointed out that, although he  respected Chávez, since his late father was defeated by him in 1992, he has waited for the opportunity to get revenge, and now he will have the opportunity to do so.

“I respect Julio César Chávez. He is one of the greatest in history and was a friend of my father. I am honored to be the last man he will face in the ring. But since that fight in 1992, I have wanted revenge. This fight has a personal touch, I wanted to fight a Chávez to get revenge, and now that it is going to happen, I am going to leave Julio walking with a cane,” said the Puerto Rican.

General Director of Code Jalisco, Fernando Ortega Ramos, assured that boxing in Jalisco has been catapulted in recent years, following a specific agenda for the development of this discipline, which will continue until both the entity and Guadalajara together position themselves as an important square in the world of boxing.

“It is a pleasure for Jalisco to be part of this great performance, of the last fight of the great Mexican champion. In the administration, we have built a very strong agenda on the subject of boxing to position Guadalajara as an important place for this type of event. We have taken professional functions to different municipalities and I am sure that we will position Guadalajara as an important place for this sport.”

General Director of the Guadalajara Municipal Sports Council, Tomás Gallo Padilla, assured that there will be more boxing functions of this level in the Jalisco capital.

“In Guadalajara we know how to do high-level events, but we are also the Sports Capital of the World for everything we do in this area and in the city. It will be the first of more functions that we do, and proof of this is that the city has the door open for all the sports legends.”

Julio César Chávez Jr and the legend of mixed martial arts, Brazilian Anderson “Spider” Silva, will also be present at this Saturday's boxing evening, and both offered their impressions of what will be a clash of styles.

“I didn't expect a fight to break out against a mixed martial arts legend like Anderson Silva. I know he boxed professionally, that he knows boxing, but his career was made in another sport, and it will be interesting to see both styles. I prepared very well and I know that I can get my career off the ground again, ”said Julio César Chávez Jr.

The Amazonian Anderson Silva, a legend in mixed martial arts, also noted that he will seek to give a great display, regardless of the fact that boxing was not what defined his sports career.

“Boxing and mixed martial arts are two different sports, and we have to respect both of them. I like boxing, I love it, and that's why this fight is going to take place with a great boxer like Julio César Chávez Jr. I know I don't have to prove anything to anyone, and that's why I'm going to fight for the fun of it..”

The evening will also feature the third confrontation between Omar Chávez and Ramón “Inocente” Álvarez, who each declared themselves ready to tip the balance in their favor. Their two previous events resulted in one win for each, so next Saturday's fight will upset the tie and determine a victor between the two.
