Puerto Vallarta Ready to Vaccinate 18-29 Year Olds Starting Tomorrow

Government authorities refined the details for the start of the vaccination of people between 18 and 29 years of age, which will take place from Friday, July 23 to Wednesday, July 28.

Two facilities will administer the vaccinations, La Lija sports unit in Cuapanole and the Naval Hospital, from 8:00 in the morning to 4:00 in the afternoon.

The interim mayor, Jorge Antonio Quintero Alvarado, celebrated the confirmation of this vaccination process for the youth of Puerto Vallarta made by the state governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, since he is currently in the age group that has represented the highest number of positive cases in this third wave of infections. With the vaccination of this age group, about 60% of the citizenry will be immunized with at least one dose.

He specified that an important turnout is expected, since the first dose will be vaccinated to young people between 18 and 29 years old, but also to those who are older and have not yet received the first dose, so more restrictive measures will be applied in the two venues, such as greater distance between chairs and the increase in vaccination stations in the case of La Lija. However, as in the previous sessions, it will be very accessible and agile for all citizens who wish to be vaccinated.

He explained that on the part of the City Council, no effort will be spared from any of the municipal agencies that support the logistics and development of this process, for which he invited young people to take advantage and go to be vaccinated. It is a biological that is safe and effective, which together with the health measures that are being implemented will prevent serious cases of contagion from occurring, in addition to avoiding the risk of closure to the economic activities of the port.

The director of the VIII Sanitary Region, Jaime Álvarez Zayas, stressed that there will be about 65,000 doses that will be applied in these six days of vaccination, in which greater attendance is expected on Saturday and Sunday. The goal is to apply at least 10,000 biologicals a day, something that has already been achieved in previous sessions.

He indicated that the Sinovac biological will be applied, which has scientifically proven its effectiveness globally, in addition to its safety. He also recalled that those who have already been vaccinated should continue to take care of and adopt sanitary measures such as the use of face masks, hand washing, and the use of antibacterial gel, since they can still contract this disease although with fewer complications than those who have not been immunized, and they can also continue to be transmitters, so health protocols must be followed.

Ernesto Sánchez, from the Ministry of Welfare, stressed that in the face of this new challenge, the teamwork that has been achieved between the different levels of government will continue to stand out and will achieve good results for the benefit of the people of this municipality. "It is a team effort. It is an extraordinary job and I can only congratulate you, thank you as always from the federal government for all the attention you have had in this regard."
