DIF Supports Mental Health with Free Psychological Counseling

DIF Supports Mental Health with Free Psychological Counseling

With the commitment to continue supporting mental health, the Municipal DIF System provides free comprehensive psychological care to improve the mental health of Vallartans.

The service is free to the general public, with specialized attention to receive individual, couple, or family psychological therapy.

The care is aimed at people who are emotionally affected by various factors, such as grief, age, divorce, stages of development, anguish, depression, lack of acceptance, stress due to financial problems, family disintegration, insufficient social security, workplace and school bullying, omission of paternal care, lack of self-esteem, abandonment, helplessness, and others such as confinement at home derived from the pandemic.

The therapy sessions last about 45 minutes and it is necessary to make an appointment.  In the case of children of a minimum age of 6 years, the psychologist in charge of the case will inform the parents or guardians of the indications that they consider necessary for the proper care process of the child.

If any other service or program provided by the agency is required, the psychology specialist will channel the user to the corresponding area offering the comprehensive care that is needed.

The Center for Specialized Attention in Family Therapy serves people who require the service at the DIF Vallarta facilities on Avenida Paseo de las Palmas s/n, in the colonia Santa María. For more information and to schedule an appointment for therapy, call 322 2933441.

Those interested will be received by scheduled appointment from 8:00am to 4:00pm, based on their needs. It should be noted that the staff maintains hygiene and safety measures at all times, such as healthy distance, use of facemasks, and antibacterial gel.
