Vaccinations for People Over 40 Begin Tuesday in 53 Municipalities

Tomorrow, Tuesday June 8, the vaccination against COVID-19 will begin for people between 40 and 49 years of age in 53 municipalities of Jalisco, where the first dose of the vaccine can also be applied to pregnant women over 18 years of age with more than 9 gestation weeks.

The change in date is due to the logistics of transporting and storing the vaccines so that they arrive at each vaccination post. In these 53 municipalities, people aged 50 and over who for some reason did not get vaccinated when their turn was due will also have the opportunity to get vaccinated.

The AstraZeneca (first dose) and CanSino (single dose) vaccines will be applied in the North, Altos Norte, Sureste, Sierra de Amula and Costa Norte regions.

The application of vaccines will be carried out in modules within a schedule from 08:00 to 16:00 hours or until the doses assigned for that day are exhausted.

Vaccination in Jalisco is progressing, however the population is reminded that the pandemic is still active and therefore face masks should be used properly (this simple measure can reduce the risk of contagion up to 90%,) stay only for a short time in public spaces , keep a distance of 1.5 meters between people, and wash hands frequently with soap and water or use 70% alcohol gel.

Since March 14, 2020, the day the first two patients were notified in Jalisco, to date there have been 250,950 confirmed cases in the entity, detected thanks to the RADAR System; as well as a total of 12,348 deaths confirmed by the SARS-CoV-2 virus infection.
