Yummy Orange Pork on Rice

Yummy Orange Pork on Rice

El Bien del Cerdo wants to share with you the tastiest pork recipes to make the most special dishes, along with their preparation, so that you can experiment in the kitchen and enjoy their incredible flavor.

Pork gets along very well with sweet and vinegary flavors. In this recipe the citrus of the orange perfectly balances the fat of the pork and gives you that oriental flavor that we like so much. Here is a delicious pork and sweet orangey flavored dish:

Ingredients

400 grams of pork tenderloin.

1 teaspoon of salt.

1 teaspoon of black pepper.

1 egg white.

3 tablespoons of tapioca flour (can be substituted for 2 tablespoons of normal flour and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch flour).

Manteca or frying oil.

1 tablespoon sesame oil.

2 cloves garlic, minced.

¼ green bell pepper, cut into thin strips.

¼ red bell pepper, cut into thin strips.

½ glass of natural orange juice mixed with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch flour.

3 tablespoons of soy sauce.

2 tablespoons chives, finely cut.

½ cup toasted walnuts, coarsely chopped.

1½ cups white rice.

Preparation

Begin preparing unseasoned white rice, adding the rice to 4 ½ cups water, bring to a full boil, then cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, cut the sirloin into bite sized pieces.

Mix the egg white with the salt and pepper and pour over the pork and mix well. Then gradually add while stirring the tapioca flour, and cover the pork very evenly.

Fry the pieces of pork in Manteca or frying oil until golden brown and set aside.

For the sauce, heat a tablespoon of sesame oil in a pan, sauté the garlic for about a minute, add the bell pepper and sauté a couple more minutes, then add the orange juice and soy sauce, and cook until thickened and remove.

Mix the pork with the sauce, walnuts, and chives, and serve over white rice.

You can vary this recipe to your taste; try adding in pineapple, carrots, or ginger. For more orange tang, add some zest.
