The Best Tortas Ahogadas In Town
Today we went to Tortalajara.
Hello, again. My dad and I, and sometimes my mom comes along too, have been going out on the town to find some of the best hole in the wall, off the beaten path cheap eats restaurants that we can find. We go out almost every day, finding some new little place to tell you about and review the food and prices.
As my dad and I were driving around today, we thought about what we wanted to eat, and I finally suggested tortas ahogadas. And, of course instead of stopping at one of the many places only 10 minutes from our house, my dad drove all the way past Home Depot to get the best tortas ahogadas in town, and for a pretty cheap price.
They are called Tortas Ahogadas Tortalajara, and are located on Calle Tepic in Crucero; the longitude latitude location is 20.69472871463717, -105.24164602544242. They also offer free delivery to most of Puerto Vallarta and Bahia De Banderas or through Uber Eats.
They mainly just serve tortas ahogadas, but they also serve mini tortas, tacos dorados, carne en su jugo, and chilaquiles. They have carnitas, panela cheese, chicken, tongue, buche, cuero, chicharon, shrimp; an assortment of meats that they can put on your tortas and/or tacos.
Also, fun fact, they get important traditional torta ahogada bread from Guadalajara freshly made and brought to PV every day.
My dad had a carnitas torta, and the bread, as usual was really yummy, crunchy, and salty. The carnitas were not dry and shredded, but cubed and tender.
I had a lengua, or tongue, mini torta, and instead of the meat being chewy like most lengua, it was tender as well. And the flavor wasn’t full of spice, it had natural lengua flavor, which is a quite unique flavor. A lot of places will over-spice their lengua and other meats that are easy to over power the flavor of.
The inside of the restaurant is kind of thin but pretty long, so there aren’t that many tables inside, though there is also an outdoor seating area. They also have a bar with a very spicy and yummy hot sauce, a warm tomato sauce, a cold tomato sauce, yummy refried beans, col, and onions that you can put on your tortas or tacos.
