The Norteño Chili Dog From El Doggo Norteño

The Norteño Chili Dog From El Doggo Norteño

Today me and my parents went for a doggo from El Doggo Norteño.

Hello, again. My dad and I, and sometimes my mom comes along too, have been going out on the town to find some of the best not so popular cheap eats, mostly family-owned, restaurants that we can find. We go out almost every day, finding some new little place, or big place, to tell you about and review the food and prices.

Today my family and I went to Mochi Cocina Asiatica, and you’re probably thinking that I’ve already been there and reviewed it, but today we didn’t go there for the Asian food, in fact we didn’t have anything off of the Mochi menu, at least most of us didn’t. So, you may or may not be confused right now, but the thing is that Mochi is co-owned and shares an area with El Doggo Norteño, so wherever you choose to sit you can order off of either one or both of the menus. And today, though we sat at Mochi, we still ate food from El Doggo Norteño. Like I said, the two restaurants share space, so El Doggo Norteño has the same location that Mochi does, which is right across the street from Plaza Centrocity, at Calle Tai #40 in colonia Aramara, and the longitude latitude location is 20.65478829074489, -105.23129041072177. They also have delivery to most of PV, and are registered on Rappi, DiDi Foods, and Uber Eats.

El Doggo Norteño serves hot dogs, burgers, and American snacks such as French fries, but the hot dogs aren’t any old hot dogs. I mean, yes, they do have a plain hotdog, but even that is special because they wrap it in bacon, and also because of the bread they use. It’s super soft and fluffy, and it reminds me of cloud bread, but it’s also very sweet, and more like a roll rather than a typical hot dog bun. Also, they have a couple vegetarian hot dog options as well as a vegetarian burger option.

I got a chilli-doggo, and because I didn’t read the description I was expecting the type of chili that’s red and has beans like a chili dog would be in the U.S., but it was completely different. The hotdog was wrapped in crispy bacon and had a giant pile of 3 different melted cheeses, then a thick slice of an anaheim chile, and on top of that guacamole, Serrano dressing, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes. The chili part of the chilli-doggo was a roasted anaheim pepper! And, I normally don’t like the taste of fresh, green peppers, especially anaheims, but this was very good, and I didn’t pick off or dislike the pepper in any way!! Also, it was so filling that I didn’t get to finish even half of it.

My dad got a chilli-chori, which is the same as mine, except that it has Mexican chorizo on top of the hotdog, and is then covered with cheese and all of the toppings. He also was expecting a typical American red chili dog, but he was very surprised yet pleased when he saw that the chili was an anaheim, because he loves green chili, and every time we go to La Comer he gets a giant bag of anaheims. He was also very surprised at how much the thing weighed, and how many different ingredients it had. I don’t know how, but I managed to pick up my hot dog and eat it, though my dad had to use a fork for his. He says that the chilli-chori is a perfect treat for the green chili lovers of Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado, and that it would also be the perfect accompaniment for a long night of drinking!

My mom decided that since it was her birthday, she would get a sushi roll off of the Mochi menu. She got a Takemi Especial, which is the same one I got when we went to eat at Mochi. I had given her a piece of my roll that day, and she loved it! There were so many flavors in it, but it went together so well. On the inside, there was seaweed, cucumber, avocado, masago, shrimp, cream cheese, and eel, and then on the outside there was rice and white fish, and was deep fried to a crispy crunch, and on top of that was crab salad and sweet sauce. It’s hard to describe the taste of sushi, especially when there are so many flavors involved, but it really was delicious. Everything tasted very fresh, and the fish, shrimp, and eel were all soft and tender.

El Doggo Norteño is mostly takeaway and delivery, but it does have an area for sitting, though my mom wanted to sit at Mochi and it was her birthday, so we did that. Just like last time, everything was clean and pretty, and our waiter was very kind and helpful. Also, El Doggo Norteño is open from 2:30 pm to 2:00 am, so it’s a perfect place for late-night munchies, or like my dad said, to go for a meal after or with drinks.
