Absolutely Gorgeous Garden Cafe At Crepas Sweet Dreams

Absolutely Gorgeous Garden Cafe At Crepas Sweet Dreams

Today we went for some crepes at Crepas Sweet Dreams.

Hello, again. My dad and I, and sometimes my mom comes along too, have been going out on the town to find some of the best not so popular cheap eats, mostly family-owned, restaurants that we can find. We go out almost every day, finding some new little place, or big place, to tell you about and review the food and prices.

Today we wanted to go to a nice little lunch place we’d seen the day before, but they were closed, so as we were driving home my mom mentioned that “the crepe place,” as she calls it, is now open for breakfast and recommended we go there, as every time we have ever driven by it smelled fantastic. So, my dad made a U-turn and we parked. The place is called Crepas Sweet Dreams and is located right across the street on the east side of Parque Los Sauces on Calle Colibri 171 in colonia Los Sauces, and the longitude latitude location is 20.640325473549073, -105.215272680879. They also do cheap delivery; it’s about 20 pesos to the tourist zone.

Sweet Dreams is a family operated restaurant that mainly serves crepes, and they’ve been serving them in the evenings for 20 years, but a little less than 1 ½ months ago they expanded their menu and started doing breakfast as well. They also have a walk-up bar on the park side so people can order items and walk around the park with them, or for picking up orders to go. And, they always give you a complementary banana with lechera, aka sweetened condensed milk, nuts, and granola.

I got a Crepa Italiana, which tasted a lot like pizza! It had homemade tomato sauce, salami, pepperoni, and a cheese that I think was mozzarella wrapped into a thin crepe. The crepe itself was sweet and tasted like a skinny pancake, but somehow went really good together with the filling and the sweet-ness wasn’t even really noticeable. The sauce tasted really yummy and obviously had herbs in it like oregano, pepper, etc. I think it’s really important for tomato sauces to have herbs, because I’ve had some sauces that are plain tomato, and they aren’t very enjoyable. The meats in my crepe were really good and salty, and they tasted legitimate and not cheap, packaged meat. Also, the cheese was super stringy and tasty!

My mom got a ham, mushroom, cheese, and spinach omelet. She said it was kinda salty but other than that it was amazing. The ham was cut into perfect little chunks, the mushrooms were cooked nicely, the spinach still had a little bit of a fresh flavor, which made it perfect, and the cheese was melty just as mine was. There was also a big pile of refried beans that came with it, and they were also really good.

My dad got a salad with all of the veggies, cilantro chicken, and chipotle sauce. I say all of the veggies because at Sweet Dreams you get to choose as many veggies as you like out of the options they give you, including all, as well as a protein which are different chicken styles or arachera, and finally a dressing. And they give you the dressing on the side so you can choose how much you’d like on it, and if you want more they will be happy to bring it to you. Also, all of the salads come with some pasta. My dad said that they gave him a lot of chicken so that plus the pasta and super fresh veggies made it quite filling, he didn’t even finish it.

The food was great but the best part about Sweet Dreams is the large outdoor terrace, which looks like a mystical garden.  There are trees and plants all over, and a whole bunch of different decorations that makes the place look amazing. There is a pretty fountain in the middle, and all around different decorations like glass mushrooms, fairy statues in pots, a garden gnome on a swing hanging from a tree, and even a fairy in a birdcage. Also, the hanging fairy lights have little covers on them that make them look like mushrooms too! There are different tables in separated areas all around the place, all decently far away from each other, so you’ll most likely find a place where you can be alone. Though I have to say, since this is an open garden café there are some bugs so I recommend bringing some bug spray.

I would also like to say that our server, who was a family member in this family business, was very friendly, informative, and attentive. It is a matter of pride for this business to deliver impeccable service.
