Get A Quesadilla Almost 2 Feet Long At Los Patrones

Today we went to get a 50 cm quesadilla at Los Patrones!

Hello, again. My dad and I, and sometimes my mom comes along too, have been going out on the town to find some of the best not so popular cheap eats, mostly family-owned, restaurants that we can find. We go out almost every day, finding some new little place, or big place, to tell you about and review the food and prices.

Today I wanted to go Tacos Light, but it was lunchtime and they don’t open until night, and we were hungry right then. Plus, my dad doesn’t really like going out at night. So then my dad thought about the giant quesadilla place that our friend Carlos recommended, though we didn’t know the name of it, so I looked it up on Google and I found it. It’s called Los Patrones, and it’s located on the second floor at Calle Abasolo #143, on the corner where that street meets 5 de Mayo. Their address is a little off in Apple Maps, so it may be best to just find the street corner of Abasolo and 5 de Mayo, or use Google Maps or the latitude longitude location of 20.651771877569782, -105.22032402853091. Los Patrones also delivers to all of PV.

Los Patrones serves tacos, sopes, quesadillas, huaraches, etc etc. To drink they have fresh waters of the day, bottled water, and sodas. Also, there is a complementary jug of water with plastic cups on every table. The jar is actually made of clay, so the water gets kind of an earth-y flavor from it and I think that’s quite cool! What’s really awesome about this place though is their Quesadilla Patrona. It is a huge quesadilla that could feed 3 or 4 people piled high with the meat of your choice, beans, and, obviously, cheese. The tortilla itself is super thick and bready, and altogether the quesadilla is so thick you can’t even take a bite into it. But, it may just be the overall enormity because it’s almost 2 feet long. Yes, almost 2 feet long. The handmade tortillas are over 50 cm long!

Of course, my dad and I had to get this monstrosity of a quesadilla. And, even though I knew how long it was going to be, it was so much bigger than I thought! And it was so thick I’m seriously wondering how they can sell it for a low price of 159 pesos, when there could easily be 100 pesos of meat in there. Also, there was a thick pile of gouda cheese in the middle of it, which isn’t very cheap either. But I am not complaining, it is sooo good and so cheap for what you get! The meat is tender, salty, peppery, and has really good, but basic, meat flavor. It doesn’t taste like spices, it tastes like good meat. And the cheese is super soft, super stringy, and suuuuper melty. It had a rich slightly pungent gouda flavor, and was kinda salty and added another delicious layer of flavor to the gigantic quesadilla. Overall the flavors came together to make a really good, and really big, quesadilla.

Quesadilla Patrona doesn’t come with onions and cilantro, but there is a big topping and salsa bar where you can add as much cilantro and onions as you want. There are also pickled veggies, molcajete sauce, and 5 other sauces. One of them is a Cola De Rata sauce, which is my favorite. It’s spicy but isn’t just chile oil because it has some tomato in it. But then there’s also a plain tomato sauce, guacamole, and two spicy green sauces.

Los Patrones has a large area with lots of tables, probably at least 50, and would be perfect for a party or gathering. I may not recommend it for a kid’s birthday party, but for adults definitely! Though if you have kids they also have a kid’s area with a play house, play kitchen, and a rocking-horse type toy.
