To support people who develop an artisanal technique in Jalisco as a self-employment activity, the State Government, through the Ministry of Economic Development (Sedeco), launched the Call for Crafts Restart
in the Self-employment modality. The funding totals one million pesos and is aimed at self-employed artisans affected by the prevention and containment measures of COVID-19
With this call, the aim is to reactivate the artisanal sector, which due to the pandemic could have seen its income affected, explained Margarita Alfaro, director of the Artisanal Promotion in Jalisco; and she specified that the support is for the purchase of raw material or simple machinery that allows artisans to continue producing their pieces. The supports are 10,000 pesos per artisan.
The director added that the call was designed especially for artisans from the municipalities of the interior of the state that are registered in the Jalisco Artisan Register, although they do not have registration with the Tax Administration Service (SAT).
"A large number of artisans who are registered with us are not registered in the SAT, so this is a project in which we are trying to promote support for production, so that they buy mainly raw materials or a tool that they may need, simply, but to incentivize production and then, based on other projects, channels, and others that the management has, we help them in the matter of commercialization,” he commented.
The call will be in force until June 23, 2021, or until the funding of one million pesos is exhausted. Interested artisans may register to request support on the airtable page listed below:
