"Replicantes" Project Supports Independent Cultural Centers

"Replicantes" Project Supports Independent Cultural Centers

Strengthening the independent cultural centers of Jalisco as vital agents for economic and social recovery is the objective of the call "Replicantes, Cultural Centers in Network."

It is aimed at producers, creators, and cultural managers, who are in charge of the administration and operation of a space in any artistic discipline or cultural activity.

“Replicantes” is one of the calls for the Culture in Resilience program of the Jalisco Ministry of Culture (SC), which was born a year ago to face the economic effects on independent cultural spaces as a result of the pandemic, which caused a total stoppage of activities in these centers. This year applicants will be able to present a project for review in which they may receive a stimulus of 100,000 pesos.

Daniela López Ramos, head of the SC Theater Headquarters, highlights that “The call is very open and allows spaces to strengthen areas such as infrastructure, specialization of its personnel, programming of activities, dissemination and promotion, workshops or adaptation of spaces to comply with health security protocols. It seeks to be as open as possible, given that cultural spaces and centers each have a different profile.”

Regarding the previous broadcast of "Replicantes," Daniela Ramos points out that “Twenty projects from four municipalities of the state were selected, serving different audiences and generating different activities, from programming to residencies, cultural activism, or community culture. It is important that they know that the cultural centers that can participate in “Replicantes” are not only those that have presentations, but also those that have a link with public and artistic communities and that in some way participate in the culture of their region."

The call continues until May 20 and individuals or legal entities that generate or develop services and products with cultural and artistic content can participate, provided they have a space for cultural activities that is operated independently, and is established in any part of Jalisco with more than four months of verifiable activity.

Participation can be individually or collectively, and project proposals are to be carried out between the months of July to November. Applications must be sent through the online form available at the link following this article with a single Word file, PDF or web link.

The complete bases of the call are found on the culturaenresiliencia page. Those who require personal support to register their proposal, can request it by calling 33 3030 4500 Ext. 54747 and 54776.
