Puerto Vallarta Will Receive the ‘Beach Volleyball Youth Championship’

“It is the first time that a championship with all categories has been brought,” said Laura Almaral, director of the promoter Larx.

Puerto Vallarta will host the 'Beach Volleyball Youth Championship 2021,' to be held from May 28 to 30 on the beach of Holi. The confirmed attendance to this date is more than 110 teams from the different states of the republic, who will be competing in the Under 15, Under 17, and Under 20 categories. 

The details of this sporting event were announced at a press conference, stressing that given the task of contributing to the reactivation of the destination, and as part of the activities for the 103rd anniversary of Puerto Vallarta as a municipality, and 53rd anniversary as a city, it is betting on sports tourism. 

The technical details and the program of this tournament is headed by Laura Almaral, who thanked the support of the authorities and sponsors that make this sporting event possible. 

“It is historic, it is the first time that a Youth Championship of all categories has been brought to Vallarta. 18 states of the republic have already been confirmed, and  from here will be the start of the National Games that will be in June,” she pointed out, “so it is expected that this will be the first of many tournaments.” She indicated that a stadium and 5 courts will be set up on the beach of Holi, where all the sanitary measures established by the Ministry of Health will be followed. Entry will be free during the three days of competition.

There will be a qualification on Friday, May 28th for teams that are not already seeded in each category to obtain one of the 4 remaining places, so that each category in the female and male branches is played with 12 teams under a system of groups of all against all, and later, a crossover system. On Saturday, the competitions will start from 9 in the morning and on Sunday the finals will be played. In addition, a daily occupancy of 500 to 600 room nights of the participants is expected. 

On behalf of CODE Jalisco, Gustavo Fong Patiño, director of Municipal Sports, was present, and indicated that this new normal calls for promoting sports as a tool for social and economic reactivation, and in the case of Vallarta, tourism. He also added that the capacity of attendees will be authorized prior to the competition by the Board of Health, according to the evaluation of health in the state.
