According to National Survey, Confidence Up for Jalisco Businesses

The 2020 National Survey of Regulatory Quality and Government Impact on Companies (ENCRIGE,) shows growing confidence among the businesses of Jalisco.

The ENCRIGE, which was carried out at the national level in 2016 and 2020, seeks to generate information on the experiences and perception of the businesses of the private sector when carrying out procedures and requesting public services. It is a measure of the perception and experience of companies on such subjects as regulatory frameworks, procedures to comply with obligations, perception of confidence, public services, inspections carried out by governments; and acts of corruption when making payments, procedures, or requesting services.

In this survey, most companies consider the administrative burden and the conditions to comply with the regulatory framework favorable, considering that from 2019 to 2020, 66.7% of the conditions to comply with the regulatory framework remained as good or improved, placing Jalisco in the fourth position with the highest percentage of favorable perception.

From 2016 to 2020, the percentage of confidence in the conclusion of contracts or agreements with other companies rose from 82% to 97.1%. This environment has made Jalisco a safe state for business, ranking as the second entity with the highest percentage of companies that carry out contracts with positive confidence levels, only below Veracruz, which registers 97.8%.

Regarding basic public services in 2020, the percentages of companies that declared satisfaction in Jalisco's services are above the national ones, with drinking water services at 88.8% satisfaction, drainage and sewerage at 87.6%, public lighting at 85.9%, streets and avenues at 81.4%, highways and roads at 82.0%, and police services at 80.0%. Jalisco is the entity with the second highest percentages of companies that declared they feel satisfied with services with an overall 84.4%, however in the case of collection of garbage Jalisco comes in fifth.

Jalisco is the state with the second lowest percentage of companies that perceived acts of corruption by public servants, registering 31.8% in 2020, dropping dramatically from 2016 when it was 88.6%. The 2020 figures are also well below the national level, which was 71.5%, compared to 2016 when Jalisco was 6.4% higher than the national average of 82.2%.
