Jalisco Second in the Nation for Recovery of Employment

After more than a year of pandemic, the dynamics of employment in Jalisco remains positive, as the entity adds its fifth month of growth and accumulates 35,240 new jobs so far in 2021.

 

The entity stands out at the national level for the generation of formal employment during the 10 months of economic reactivation, from August 2020 to May 2021. 

Jalisco is positioned as the second largest generator of formal employment in the country, since with the creation of 4,723 new jobs during May, the entity accumulates 72,972 jobs created during the period of economic reactivation, which includes August 2020 to May 2021. 

This represents an accumulated variation of 1.98% with respect to the end of 2020. The state presents a significant recovery, going from  a loss of 42,375 jobs in the first five months of 2020, to 35,240 jobs gained in the same period of 2021. 

The head of the Ministry of Economic Development (SEDECO), Ernesto Sánchez Proal, pointed out that the boost that the Government of Jalisco has provided to the productive sector to address the crisis of the pandemic, and the continuity in the strategic projects of Economic Development in the that SEDECO works, have made Jalisco's economy remain solid today. 

“These employment figures show that the actions implemented for the economic reactivation due to the pandemic, but above all, our long-term economic development strategy has made our economy more resilient and increasingly dynamic, taking advantage of internal and external factors… to promote it,” shared the Secretary of Economic Development. 

The figure of 4,723 jobs generated only during the month of May represents a monthly variation of 0.26%, and shows a recovery compared to May 2020 when 23,471 jobs were lost due to the pandemic.
