Currently at the Livestock Expo, there is still a window to request support for the purchase of sire animals.
The head of the Jalisco Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER,) Salvador Álvarez García, explained that this program responds to the fact that Jalisco livestock has a highly recognized status in its genetic quality in different bovine breeds, and of other species such as in sheep and goats.
The state official said that the exhibition framework where the acquisitions are facilitated has been the Livestock Expo, organized by the state union, in which the beneficiaries of this program can choose the animal for purchase.
In the three years of the current state administration, support from the Government of Jalisco has totaled 15 million pesos for the acquisition of sire animals for the livestock sector, which has instrumented the purchase of 750 registration animals for the benefit of the ranchers involved.
Salvador Álvarez Morán, treasurer of the National Confederation of Livestock Organizations, expressed that this program that facilitates the purchase of sire animals has a favorable impact on consolidating the genetic quality that exists in Jalisco, which is shown in the great demand for breeders of registry animals.
The breeds most in demand for genetic improvement in Jalisco livestock are: Brahman, Charolais, Zebu, Angus, Brangus and Limousin, among others which are of Italian origin.
