Active Covid Cases Stable; Jalisco Strategy for Return to Classes Continues to Work

Just over a month since the return to face-to-face classes, the report of incidents of contagion of COVID-19 in schools remains stable.

Regarding the incidence of active COVID-19 cases detected in basic education schools, it continues to a minimum with only 0.005% in students, that is, 83 active cases. In the educational personnel 112 were registered, which is equivalent to 0.0906% of the total workforce.

The cases were identified in 170 schools, which is just 1.27% of the 13,415 institutions of basic education in the entire state.

According to the epidemiological follow-up carried out by the Jalisco Ministry of Health in coordination with the Jalisco Ministry of Education, this week it is reported that in the ages of students from 3 to 14 years (basic education) there are 495 cases that symptoms began in the last 15 days, of which only 83 were identified in schools. Most of the positive cases in this age range occur in the AMG with 410, given that in this area there is a greater demographic concentration.

This last week there was a slight increase in student attendance. According to the Jalisco Education Secretariat, 86.03% of the pre-school, primary and secondary school students attended, that is 1,428,574 students decided to return to the face-to-face educational model. With the model for back to school in Jalisco, it has been achieved that 98.93% of schools remain open to receive students in their classes, although a hybrid model is in force in the entity that allows taking face-to-face classes or distance education in a self-managed way.

According to the epidemiological follow-up, this week it is reported that in people aged 15 to 25 years (upper secondary and higher education) there are 1,325 cases that started symptoms in the last 15 days, despite that not all schools at this level have returned to face-to-face classes.
