Jalisco Continues to Deliver Support to People Affected by Hurricane Damage

More than 20 government workers have been assigned solely to provide support to people who have been affected by the rains in the state.

The Government of Jalisco through the Chief of Cabinet, the State Council for Economic Promotion, and the Secretariat of the Social Assistance System, continue to provide support to individuals and families who have been affected by the heavy rains that have fallen into the state.

So far, the communities that have benefited from assistance to the population in emergency conditions are: El Aguacate, Zapotan; The Colorado; The Herrado; and Barandillas and Las Mesas, in the municipality of Mascota, Jalisco.

It is important to point out that these localities are difficult to access, so the transfer of food to the population has been carried out in different means of transport.

Given the overflow of the Las Pintas dam, the Aqueduct of the La Colorado canal, and the El Chicharrón regulating vessel in the municipality of San Pedro Tlaquepaque, flooding occurred in 12 neighboring colonies during the early hours of Friday, September 3. The System for the Comprehensive Family Development (DIF) Jalisco coordinated with the municipal DIF system to assist in the basic needs of the affected population.

The state agency allocated 620 blankets and 500 pantries for the area in support of families. With the collaboration of elements of the Mexican army, personnel from DIF Jalisco, Tlaquepaque City Council, Civil Protection, and municipal DIF, house-to-house cleaning work is being carried out, as well as to deliver assistance from house to house.

It is worth mentioning that the DIF Tlaquepaque installed a temporary shelter in the Community Development Center of the Vista Hermosa neighborhood, which has provided care for 60 people, and food rations are also provided in the nearby welfare kitchens with the support of the state DIF.

In the municipality of Ejutla, the rains have affected at least 30 homes, with most of the buildings having water entry with a level greater than one meter in height, due to the overflow of the "El Vado" stream, which crosses the municipal seat.

Officials from the UEPCBJ of the El Grullo Regional Command went to the affected area to give support and assistance to the population, and as a prevention 25 inhabitants had to be evacuated, it should be noted that all decided to go with relatives.

The officials and municipal authorities have already begun cleaning up damaged homes, so that the rains have not affected people's integrity.

Currently the municipal government maintains 3 collection centers from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. to collect non-perishable food and cleaning and personal hygiene items for the support of families, located in the Guadalajara area.

2.DIF Tlaquepaque (Av. Santa Rosalía 1040, Col. Lindavista. CP. 45520

  1. Pila Seca Administrative Unit (At the intersection of Av. Niños Héroes and Blvd. Marcelino García Barragán, Col. Prados del Nilo, CP. 44840).

The Government of Jalisco will continue to work in a coordinated manner to serve the population that has been affected by the rains and natural disasters in the state.

Any donations you can make to any government assistance program or private entities seeking to help disaster victims would be greatly appreciated, especially to those who receive the benefits. You can donate money, food, clothes, blankets, towels, personal care items, baby necessities, pet food, etc. to any of several charitable entities or assistance programs. Check with them first to see what they need and what they can take.

Some suggestions are DIF, Red Cross, Food Banks, Community Service Centers, SPCA, or any organization that is helping storm victims.
