Active Cases and Positivity Down; Bars and Clubs Allowed to Reopen at 25% Capacity

Active cases, hospitalizations, and positivity have stabilized within the last week, said Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez this morning at the conclusion of this week’s Health Board meeting.

As a result, the Board, which is made up of government officials and representatives of the University of Guadalajara and hospitals, agreed to make adjustments to the Current measures and restrictions, which imply the reopening of bars and clubs at 25% occupancy.

“I think there is encouraging news. This upward trend that we had for several weeks has been fortunately stopped. It is stabilizing, and we hope that in the coming weeks we will have a much clearer downward trend. We will continue working, but the call to the people of Jalisco is to take care of all of us, to act responsibly, and to understand that only together are we going to overcome this pandemic,” he instructed.

Anna Bárbara Casillas, general strategic coordinator of Social Development, reported on the new measures in force as of September 1, which were approved by the Board of Health:

Clubs and bars are reactivated at 25% capacity, with hours according to the license.

Restaurants operate with a capacity of 50%, with hours according to license.

Hotels operate at 80%, with common areas at 50%, at times according to their license.

Social events are held in closed spaces with only 150 people; in open spaces with 300 attendees. Massive events of more than 300 people are suspended without authorization from the Health Board.

In stadiums the capacity is 33% outdoors and with face masks.

National holidays, October Festivities, patron saint festivities, religious festivities outside the walls, government reports, and public events related to them are still canceled.

The use of face masks is mandatory in public spaces.

For the update of the National Epidemiological Traffic Light, in the week of August 9 to 22, Jalisco had 31 points and was located in red, turning orange with 27 points currently, having had a moderate decrease.

As of August 28, 2021, in Jalisco 331,464 cases have been confirmed by the Radar System. Of the 125 municipalities in the state, 113 have active cases. 16 municipalities (14.2%) have a higher rate than the state.

Puerto Vallarta highlights a significant decrease in hospitalizations from 97% at its highest peak in August, to 54% currently.

In active cases and weekly incidence rate by municipality in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, El Salto registers an increase, while in the regions attention will be focused on Chimaltitán, Concepción de Buenos Aries, Tamazula de Gordiano, Ejutla , Zapotlán el Grande, San Juanito de Escobedo, and Atoyac.

"We see that Guadalajara, Tlajomulco, Zapopan, Tlaquepaque and Tonalá have decreased… except for El Salto, which has had an increase that rose from 109 to 148, and the rest of the metropolitan municipalities present a downward weekly incidence rate."
