Yesterday morning in a formal event, an agreement was signed to guarantee the human right to universal digital inclusion, as well as access to the information society.
The signing of the "Inter-institutional Collaboration Agreement for the Promotion of the Construction of an Inclusive Digital Citizenship" was carried out in the Circle of Peace, located in the facilities of the Undersecretariat for Human Rights. This action materializes the wills of the Government of Jalisco and the Institute of Transparency, (ITEI.)
With the signing of this agreement, Jalisco becomes a pioneer state in complying with international standards of accessibility in web portals. Its objective is to promote the fundamental human right to universal digital inclusion through the promotion of web portals that guarantee accessibility conditions and allow, in turn, the exercise of human rights of use and exploitation of communication and information technologies.
In the words of Cynthia Patricia Cantero Pacheco, Commissioner President of ITEI, this agreement "represents a massive step in the digital divide, so we celebrate coinciding with the importance of favoring people."
Gerardo Ballesteros de León, Undersecretary for Human Rights, mentioned that "the right to information is one of the most important civil and political rights that citizens have," and he stressed that this agreement will benefit between 11 and 13 percent of the population in Jalisco.
Adriana Aceves Fernández, Director of Digital Inclusion, specified the objectives of the firm. She highlighted that, thanks to the agreement, training will be provided on digital accessibility for the timely and non-discriminatory care of people with disabilities and their families for the exercise of their rights of access to information and protection of personal data. In addition they will have access to advice to facilitate accessibility conditions in web portals, the use of communication and information technologies, as well as the ability to collaborate in the promotion of digital inclusion and universal access in the State of Jalisco.
The Director of Inclusion for People with Disabilities Rodolfo Torres Gutiérrez, affirmed that it is a significant advance to accessibility recognized as a Fundamental Human Right, and that this is one of the most important axes of work from the State Government through the Undersecretary of Human Rights.
With the signing of this Agreement, the Government of Jalisco advances in the consolidation of the state strategy of digital inclusion, in order to guarantee to all people the full exercise of their human rights in an egalitarian and inclusive manner.
