Intermunicipal Environmental Meetings Begin with Transition Workshops

During this year an administrative transition will be carried out in the 125 municipalities of the State of Jalisco.

To ensure that the incoming mayors guarantee the continuity of the socio-environmental management that has been built over the last few years, this Thursday the transition workshops began as the Inter-municipal Board of the Environment for Intregal Management of the Región Valles.

Through the Ministry of the Environment and Territorial Development (SEMADET,) these inter-municipal association schemes are promoted, which are fundamental given the ecological, economic, political, and social complexity of the regions of the state. This will allow sharing efforts to improve management capacity of the environment and the territory of the municipalities, as well as increasing the scope and significance of actions for the conservation of ecosystems and biodiversity, waste management, climate action, and sustainable rural productivity, among others; forging strategic alliances with institutional actors and social, academic, and productive sectors within and outside of each region.

The transition workshops are carried out with the members of the Administration Councils or Governing Boards of each incoming and outgoing Intermunicipal Board. In these spaces, the work is shared and perspectives are exchanged to guarantee the continuity of initiatives and the implementation of new projects that meet the priorities of each municipality and region in environmental matters, and with this will strengthen and consolidate local governance.

The transition model of the State of Jalisco has shown advantages in solving local problems that transcend the territorial limits of the municipalities.

This scheme allows the integrality and continuity in the socio-environmental management beyond the three-year periods of administration of the municipalities, with lasting alliances in the territories.
