Although Jalisco currently registers a scenario similar to that experienced in January 2021 in the number of active cases of coronavirus; mortality, positivity, and hospital occupancy caused by the disease are lower.
So today the Health Board, in which participates state and municipal authorities, academics, productive sectors, and specialists in the medical and scientific area, approved that there will be no new restrictive measures.
In the coming days we will have the results of the evaluation of actions in August that were taken 12 days ago, with the closure of bars, clubs, and massive events in order to know if these measures helped to lower the infection rate or, determine if it is necessary to adjust the entity's preventive strategy against COVID-19.
The Governor of the State, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, affirmed that Jalisco anticipated once again the fight against the coronavirus, since two weeks ago measures were taken that today make it possible to continue with the economic reactivation, and in the preparation process for the return to face-to-face classes at the end of August.
“This challenge in health matters has again gained strength in this second wave that is impacting the State of Jalisco. It has been unleashed as in every situation in which there has been a growth in infections, (with many) rumors and false information. Today we realize the importance of the sense of anticipation that Jalisco has had. 12 days ago, before there were red lights nationwide, we had already made decisions that responded to what was seen to come. Also (I would like) to say that the entire back-to-classroom program continues as planned,” commented the Governor.
He stressed that, for this reason, “today there are no additional restrictive measures that we had to announce, but what we must insist on is that we all have to do what is already established. If we all comply with our responsibility, we will be able to move forward.”
Alfaro Ramírez said that to better contain the virus, surveillance will be strengthened at ports and airports, emphasizing the arrival of vaccinated passengers.
“We are going to reinforce the protocols of ports and airports, particularly in the case of Puerto Vallarta where the arrival of cruise ships is imminent. What we are going to establish with complete clarity is the people who are not vaccinated and also do not pass the corresponding tests," he said.
Enrique Alfaro called on the population to register and go to be vaccinated, since the number of people who do not have any of the doses is higher than that of the vaccinated population.
"The central commitment and in that we coincide with the approach in Mexico City, to reinforce vaccination in the coming days. But we need people to help us, we continue to have levels that are not convenient, which are not what we need of participation of people in the vaccination processes. In the age groups that are scheduled today there are vaccines, but we need them to get vaccinated, make their appointment and get vaccinated,” requested the president.
According to official figures, the behavior of the coronavirus in the entity had a record of 10,941 active cases in the month of January, while in recent dates there have been 11,074 cases registered. So there are more cases, but the fatality, positivity, and aggravation of patients in need of hospitalization are much lower.
Given this, different health institutions in Jalisco install beds to care for patients with COVID-19 according to needs.
The General Strategic Coordinator of Social Development, Anna Bárbara Casillas, said that in addition to continuing with preventive measures such as the permanent use of face masks, distance between people, frequent hand washing and use of antibacterial gel, people who are particularly vulnerable such as the immunosuppressed, should remain at home.
"Now we know how the virus is shared and that is why we need the areas of public places to be ventilated, to reinforce sanitary filters, to maintain distance using physical barriers where possible, to avoid meetings of more than five people, to promote Home office activities in those companies where it is possible, epidemiological surveillance and monitoring… reactivated with the application of 2% of the tests to their workers, promote the vaccination of the personnel as appropriate, and ensure isolation of people with symptoms or who have obtained a positive result through the test," explained the official.
The general population is asked to use the mask correctly, stay in any space for the shortest possible time, avoid closed places, and go to get vaccinated.
In case of presenting symptoms associated with the coronavirus, the population is asked, particularly at this time, that young people go for medical attention.
