Hogar Cabañas Orphanage Receives Pool Renovation Thanks to Young Resident

The state of Jalisco has invested 17 million pesos in the renovation of Hogar Cabañas, an orphanage in Zapopan.

12 million were allocated for the pool, and the rest in the improvement of bedrooms and common areas and the adaptation of a Child Development Center, which will begin to operate inside the Cabañas Home.

The Governor of the State, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, inaugurated this Friday the rehabilitation work of the pool of the Hogar, which allows the physical, mental, and emotional activation of the girls and boys who live there, improving their environment.

In the pool there will be water activities such as swimming classes, physical therapy, and convivial events in adequate facilities. This will be a fundamental part for the healthy development of the nearly 300 residents.

It is a recreational, educational, and therapeutic space, which in addition to being used by residents, can also be used by caregivers providing emotional and physical benefits.

Alfaro Ramírez recalled that the attention to the pool arose thanks to the request of Alondra, a little girl who lived in the Cabañas Home, who explained to the president how important this space is for each of the girls and boys who live there.

"This little girl gave me a letter… In the letter she explained to me why she wanted the pool fixed, and the truth was very shocking to me how a little girl could argue the value of dignifying spaces where the most valuable thing we have is our girls and boys,” said the president while acknowledging Alondra with applause from all those present.

Enrique Alfaro added that during the work, care was taken that everything was first class to generate a functional installation with equipment to heat the water and have a well-made pool as a final result.

Mrs. Joanna Santillán Álvarez, volunteering Coordinator of Jalisco Solidario recalled the commitment that the State Government has with the Cabañas Home, and with the objectives pursued by the institution to guarantee a healthy and happy childhood for the resident minors.

“With this work we are celebrating children, we are celebrating their joy, and we are celebrating a moment that is going to change their childhood in many ways, because what is going to happen here is that we will create ties between them. It is going to help us to promote values, to develop them physically and emotionally,” she emphasized.

The secretary of the Social Assistance System, Alberto Esquer Gutiérrez, highlighted the actions that CODE Jalisco is carrying out in the facilities of Hogar Cabañas, both in sports activities and in the promotion of values that sport endows any person.

Rebeca del Carmen Melgar Chávez, director of Hogar Cabañas, thanked the State Government for its support in making these actions possible, and helping to improve the facilities for the benefit of the girls and boys who find a true home in this institution.
