Another 252 Appointments in the Health Sector Guarantee Job Security

Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez delivered another 252 appointments to personnel of the OPD Jalisco Health Services, totalling 1,167 workers who already have job certainty due to their years of work and experience.

"There is no possibility of a year, or two or three, to solve the lag of so many years of abandonment, but I think here we go and this act represents a very important advance in this commitment that we made to give job security to all our personnel in the health sector. I am not going to fail; I say it up front. At the end of this (administration,) all those people who have the right to a base will receive it from the government,” declared the Governor.

In the current administration, on February 23, the first delivery of bases was made to 769 workers of the OPD Health Services, to which are added the 252 granted yesterday. With the regularization, more than 4,600 supernumerary workers and their families will benefit in total over the next few years.

The governor pointed out that this process meant a work of internal reorganization of the health sector in order to cover the entire state and start the large infrastructure projects that are underway.

"It costs to build a hospital, but it costs much more to make it work and that is why we are doing this administrative reorganization, and next year the health sector will have much more budget, many more resources because I insist. The pandemic has taught us that if there is no health there is nothing, and we are going to concentrate on it,” he said.

The Secretary of Health, Fernando Petersen Aranguren, indicated that this marks a before and after in the secretariat giving labor justice, and is synonymous with gratitude to all health personnel facing the pandemic from their different trenches.

"We are complying and thus paying a debt of the State government by assigning the so-called base that will guarantee each of the beneficiaries all the labor rights corresponding to the functions they have been performing," said the head of the SSJ.

The appointments that are delivered today correspond to State Health personnel working in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area and some foreigners working in the health care sector, who met all the requirements established in the decree published in January of this year.

Among the beneficiaries are doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, caretakers, orderlies, social workers, with tenure between 7 and 16 years and who work in different institutions such as: Hospital General de Occidente, Mental Health Care Center, Jalisciense Center of Blood Transfusion, and various regional hospitals throughout the state, among others.

From 1997 to 2016 in Jalisco some basifications were carried out with the intervention of the Federation. However, the process that is currently being carried out is 100% by the state government, with a budget entirely from the state, and also entails improvements in the conditions of health personnel.
