3 Levels of DIF Strengthen Social Assistance to Priority Groups in Jalisco

The guarantee of rights to persons in conditions of social inequality is a priority for the Secretariat of the Social Assistance System (SSAS.)

Through the state DIF System, work to cover their needs is carried out with the new vision of social policy that allows access to a better quality of life in coordination with the dependencies of the three levels of government.

The head of the SSAS, Alberto Esquer Gutiérrez, during dialogue with the Director of the National DIF System, María del Rocío García Pérez, and holders of the municipal DIF Systems of Jalisco, highlighted that this work scheme made up of 8 priority groups for attention, will be strengthened with the support of the state and federal government through the programs operated by the National DIF System.

"It is important that they know the new transversal social policy that we are trying to promote, and that is going to be implemented one hundred percent next year 2022, because it has met a new state expenditure budget," explained Esquer Gutiérrez. He added that this is a priority given the Covid-19 pandemic, which increased the care needs of the most vulnerable parts of the population.

The head of the federal assistance agency acknowledged that even in these adverse times of health emergency, she has witnessed that the DIF systems have not interrupted their work in order to assist the most vulnerable population.

"Solidarity, fraternity and the willingness to help the most vulnerable population cannot be limited by colors or ideologies," said García Pérez, recognizing that the mission of social assistance that promotes the development of families and communities is through coordination with the state and municipal DIF Systems.

Subsequently, in the DIF Integral Rehabilitation Center (CRI) "Olivia Miramontes Aguirre," the authorities of SSAS and DIF made the symbolic delivery of lower limb prostheses to 3 people, representing the 100 who will benefit to facilitate their mobility and social and labor inclusion. The federal investment for these supports amounted to 781,898 pesos.

In the event, the municipality of Zapotlán El Grande was also granted 1,179,626 pesos of state investment, for the re-equipment of the Regional Rehabilitation Unit  with the aim of guaranteeing the timely attention of  people with disabilities.

The Director General of the State DIF System, Juan Carlos Martín Mancilla, acknowledged that rehabilitation services during the pandemic has been a challenge that has not stopped. "With this we take a step forward in the care of the Southern Zone of Jalisco," he stressed.

The Jalisco DIF System, through the CRI facility, supports people with amputation of any of their lower extremities, with pre-prosthetic rehabilitation, post-prosthetic rehabilitation and counseling for their social inclusion.

Currently in the state there is a network of 128 rehabilitation units, 113 basic and 15 regional, in the 125 municipalities.
