Verification of Automotive Emissions for Plates Ending in 7 Starts August 1st

As of August 1st of this year, all private vehicles with license plates ending in 7 must carry out their verification test on a mandatory basis.

In order to guarantee the human right to live in a healthy environment and breathe clean air, the Responsible Verification program begins its third stage for private vehicles. As of August 1, all private vehicles with license plate ending in number 7, as well as intensive use vehicles with plates ending in 3 and 4, must start with the Responsible Verification. Citizens are called upon to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on their vehicles, as correct tuning contributes to better verification results.

The operational guidelines, as well as the official calendar for the rest of the plate completions, will be published on July 10 in the Official Newspaper of the State of Jalisco, or can be consulted at:

At a press conference, the Secretary of the Environment and Territorial Development, Sergio Graf, commented “Complying with the verification is a sign of co-responsibility, since we let all the people with whom we share our city know that we are concerned about the quality of the air they breathe and therefore his good health.”

The process to verify consists of:

  1. Go to the above verificacionresponsable website. It is recommended to have your circulation card at hand.
  2. Select the "Make appointment" button.
  3. Select the closest Responsible Verification Center, or search on the interactive map.
  4. Enter personal and vehicle data.
  5. Choose a date and time to carry out the test.
  6. Make the payment and once it is reflected, continue with the process.

The cost of the Responsible Verification is $500 pesos. If it is untimely, the cost is $550 pesos; that is, outside the verification period according to the plate number, or in the case of not passing the test more than two times.

With a part of the $500 pesos, the cost of the technology provider is covered, as well as the operation of the Responsible Verification Centers. The rest will go to the Environmental Fund, which will be used to carry out projects and actions that help to improve the quality of the air and the environment of Jalisco: 1) Fighting and preventing fires; 2) Cycling infrastructure; 3) Sustainable transportation system; 4) Atmospheric monitoring network.

If the verification is not approved in the first attempt, the citizen must take their vehicle to maintenance to correct the faults. Subsequently, you have a second chance at no cost at the same Responsible Verification Center, and within the period established in the official calendar.

As in other states, if you plan to visit Jalisco by car, you must process the Temporary Stay Pass with a duration of 20 days, directly on the official website of the program. If you plan to stay for a longer time, it will be necessary to verify like any car with Jalisco license plates.

There are currently 12 verification lines distributed in: the AIRE Guadalajara Center (2 lines), the Official Measurement Center (2 lines,) the Mobile Unit (1 line,) and the Responsible Verification Center Dekra (7 lines.) Likewise, 98 more lines are in the process of construction, which guarantees the installed capacity for the sector that is within the obligation.

It will begin with inspection operations in the streets to supervise that the vehicles required by license plate number comply with their obligation to verify. In addition, they will be provided with detailed information on this new process.

These operations are organized by the Road Police, in coordination with the Ministry of the Environment and Territorial Development. In the event of any mishap with elements of the Road Police, citizens can make a report to the Internal Affairs area of the Ministry of Security: 3818-2400, extensions 17054, 17236 and 17218.

The Responsible Verification Program seeks to ensure that the vehicles that circulate in the state of Jalisco are within the maximum permissible limits, contributing to the mitigation of polluting emissions into the atmosphere generated by mobile sources, and having a positive impact on the quality of the air we breathe and the health of citizens.

For this, the vehicles must be tuned, since to pass the Responsible Verification it is important to have previously carried out physical-mechanical maintenance. With an adequate engine service that they can perform with the mechanic they trust, users contribute to having better results in their verification.

In this regard, the Chief of Staff, Hugo Luna Vázquez commented: “What we consider most important of all is that the vehicles that circulate in Jalisco are tuned and in good maintenance, that the Verification is nothing more than a citizen responsibility to verify or consolidate that your vehicle is in the best possible conditions to circulate.”

The new Responsible Verification program is certified by the California State Government Bureau of Automotive Repair, which guarantees the precision of gas measurements, meeting and exceeding national standards. In addition, it has unified technology that allows control and corruption-proof surveillance, being the first time in Jalisco tests with the dynamic method have been implemented, in full compliance with federal regulations. With this technology, a fast and agile process is achieved for citizens.

Along with the Secretary of the Environment and the Chief of Cabinet, the General Strategic Coordinator of Territory Management, Patricia Martínez Barba, was present, who highlighted that this program "is a public policy to address two fundamental issues, one our human right to a healthy environment, and secondly, a public policy that helps us pay for adaptation, mitigation, and combat to climate change.”
