“Enrique” Passes Without Incident; Jalisco Remains Alert

During the passage of “Enrique” along the Jalisco coast, there was no need to carry out evacuations, since the rains were light to moderate with little increase in rivers and streams, and did not present a risk to the population in any moment.

Light damage to the area includes trees and poles that have been knocked down by strong winds, this on state highway 80 that goes from the municipality of La Huerta to Melaque, and highway 200 that goes from Cihuatlán to Puerto Vallarta.

From the start of the storm threat State, Federal, Municipal, and Civil Protection authorities maintained interagency coordination to provide prompt attention and vigilance in the event of any damage that may arise. In addition, some actions were carried out such as the installation of a temporary shelter, and the permanent route throughout the night to monitor the conditions of the waves in the different beaches of the municipality.

The State Emergency Committee headed by the Secretary of the Government Enrique Ibarra Pedroza, maintained direct contact with the municipal presidents of Cihuatlán, Villa Purificación, Cabo Corriente, Tomatlán, La Huerta, and Puerto Vallarta, in order to safeguard the integrity of all and the Jalisco.

The National Water Commission, the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Jalisco Health Secretariat, the Emergency Medical Attention System, and the System for the Integral Development of the Family all participated in surveillance and care tours on the Jalisco coast.

Although this hurricane no longer poses a danger to our State, the monitoring and surveillance work will continue in a coordinated manner to provide care for the population. In the event of any emergency, the population is invited to dial 911 and stay informed through their official channels.

As every week, the Executive Commission of the Regional Public Security Council IX Costa Norte, met virtually to follow up on the actions and strategies that allow strengthening the work that is maintained in the region in terms of security.

Adrián Bobadilla García, director of Civil Protection and Firefighters, reported on the monitoring and follow-up of hurricane "Enrique," and commented that Puerto Vallarta remains in an alert phase.

He announced that during the morning of this Monday some light rains were registered, as well as the increase in the swell, for which more effects were expected by "Enrique" according to its displacement, since the back flow of this phenomenon can increase the waves in the area.
