Friday Forest Fire Report June 4

The National Forestry Commission (Conafor) reports the situation of forest fires in the country as of June 4 at 11:00 a.m., with the purpose that citizens have the details of these events,

and know the actions that the authorities carried out for its control and liquidation. 

At the moment there are 8 active forest fires in 6 states of the country, with a preliminary affected area of 2,676 hectares. Likewise, there are a total of 4 fires settled, that is, they no longer represent a risk of spreading the fire. 178 combatants are working for their attention, belonging to Conafor brigades and other entities.

This is in great comparison to the excessive numbers given just a few days ago on May 29th, of which CONAFOR reported 69 fires in 9 states affecting 22,128 hectares and involving 1,384 combatants. 

2 forest fires are reported in protected natural areas: One in the Natural Resources Protection Area CADNR 043 State of Nayarit, in the municipality of Valparaíso, Zacatecas; and one in the Pantanos del Centla Biosphere Reserve, municipality of Centla, in Tabasco. 

No special attention fires are reported at this time. 

At the moment, there are no air crews operating in the country or available. 

The population is reminded that to avoid greater risk, avoid the use of fire in forest and surrounding areas, since high temperatures, little precipitation and strong winds are forecast.

A forest fire is an unscheduled fire within forests, jungles, arid areas, or mangroves. Fires in urban and agricultural areas are taken care of by Civil Protection.
