Friday Forest Fire Report May 28

The National Forestry Commission (Conafor) reports the situation of forest fires in the country as of May 28 at 11:00 a.m., with the purpose that citizens have the details of these events

and know the actions that the authorities carried out for its control and liquidation. 

At the moment there are 67 active forest fires in 11 states of the country, with a preliminary affected area of 20,984.2 hectares. Likewise, a total of 19 fires have been settled, that is, they no longer represent a risk of spreading the fire. 

1,340 combatants are working to attend the fires, belonging to Conafor brigades and other entities. 

14 forest fires are reported in four protected natural areas; one in the Cerro Mohinora Flora and Fauna Protection Area, municipality of Guadalupe y Calvo, Chihuahua; 10 in the Natural Resources Protection Area CADNR 043, in the municipalities of La Yesca, Del Nayar and Amatlán de Cañas in Nayarit, in Pueblo Nuevo and Mezquital in Durango, Valparaíso in Zacatecas; 2 in the Sierra de Manantlán Biosphere Reserve, municipalities of Tolimán and Autlán de Navarro in Jalisco; and finally, 1 in the Sierra de Vallejo Natural Resources Protection Area, in the Compostela municipality of Nayarit. 

No special attention fires are reported.

At the moment, there are no air crews operating in the country or available. 

The population is reminded that, to avoid a greater risk, the call is reiterated not to use fire in the forest and surrounding areas, since high temperatures, little precipitation, and strong winds are forecast.

A forest fire is an unscheduled fire within forests, jungles, arid areas, or mangroves. Fires in urban and agricultural areas are taken care of by Civil Protection.
