Municipality of PV Compensates Family of Deceased Minor in Las Juntas Accident

The Municipality compensates the family of the minor who died in the electrocution accident in the Las Juntas Plaza last year.

In honor of Julio César Quiñones Moreno, the minor who lost his life in an unfortunate incident in the main square of the Las Juntas delegation on September 17, 2020, the interim Mayor Jorge Antonio Quintero Alvarado delivered financial compensation to the child's parents.

Accompanied by María Nicolasa García Reynoso, Human Rights liaison of the municipal government; Carmina Palacios Ibarra, councilor president of the Justice and Human Rights building commission, and members of the plenary session of the City Council, as well as staff of the CEDHJ, the first mayor pointed out that no financial aid will compensate for the loss of the minor, and pointed out that this type of situation must be corrected to prevent further incidents from occurring.

Fernando Zambrano Paredes, coordinator of the monitoring area of the CEDHJ, thanked the parents of little Julio for the trust placed in the state commission, and highlighted the good will of the City Council, not only in accepting all the recommendations issued by the commission but in complying with them.

Likewise, he announced that most of the operative points of this recommendation have already been met, such as keeping a minute of silence and offering a public apology, for which he celebrated the goodwill of the interim mayor and the full building in complying with each one of the points, hoping that future administrations will have openness in the defense and protection of human rights.
