The Delivery of Backpacks, School Supplies, Uniforms, and Shoes Are Coordinated

More than 18 thousand students will receive uniforms and shoes; the backpacks and supplies have already been taken to schools and are to be delivered to students by their principal.

With a clear logistic that considers all sanitary measures, the municipal government of Puerto Vallarta is ready to deliver school uniforms and shoes to the little more than 18 thousand students enrolled in this program, in addition to having already delivered  backpacks with supplies to each of the basic-level educational establishments in this city, which will be responsible for reaching the 51,600 students enrolled in the 2021 - 2022 school year, which begins on August 30.

The interim municipal president, Jorge Antonio Quintero Alvarado, met this Wednesday with zone supervisors and representatives of the Regional Delegation of Educational Services (DRSE) in this region to publicize the details of these deliveries and that they in turn share information with the rest of the education sector.

The mayor highlighted the importance of these supports for his government, which significantly benefit the household economy, given the reactivation process that the city is experiencing and the beginning of the school cycle, so that they do not have to generate this expenditure on uniforms, backpacks, supplies and shoes.

He indicated that this meeting with the supervisors will also make it possible to know the state in which the educational facilities are located, so that they are attended by the state authorities and they can return to classes. In addition, the municipal government will be supporting with materials the rehabilitation of schools with minor damages, as is already done in 17 schools. "The idea is to help the state government so that we have a safe return to classes," as he said that education is everyone's responsibility.

The director of Social Development, Jorge Durán Topete, presented the work scheme for the delivery of the programs, first the backpacks with supplies, which have already been distributed in its entirety to the different public schools of basic education, and now corresponds to the Directors do the same with parents, under health measures and protocols.

This benefit will be received by the 51,600 students enrolled in preschool, primary and secondary school, according to the list presented by the DRSE, and represents a municipal and state investment of close to 18 million pesos.

In the case of uniforms and shoes, support will be delivered only to students who were enrolled in this program during the month of March, both on the digital platform and in the 18 enrollment centers, with a total of 18,087 packages. to the same number of beneficiaries from the three educational levels and Special Education Centers.

The delivery will take place from August 23 to 27 in each campus, so the call will be made through social networks, WhatsApp groups already established, press and informational banners in each school. Parents or guardians will be summoned, at different times, seeking that there are no crowds and with health protocols. There will also be a day for the morning shift and another for the evening shift.

Durán Topete announced that parents must bring a copy of their official identification, full name of the student, grade and group. People who cannot come to pick up their uniforms or shoes or need to make a change can do so from August 31 to September 3 at the Desarrollo Social warehouse, located in Mojoneras. He pointed out that this program does not contemplate the delivery to first-year students of any educational level.

The support of the Shoes, has a joint investment of the municipality and the state for 4 million 710 thousand 872 pesos, while the uniforms have a one hundred percent municipal investment for 7 million 455 thousand 572 pesos.

Also present at the meeting were the councilors Laurel Carrillo Ventura, president of the Education, Innovation, Science and Technology commission, and Norma Joya Carrillo, president of the Gender Equality and Integral Human Development commission, as well as the deputy director of Municipal Education , Rodrigo Rodríguez de la Cruz, who announced the schools that are already being attended prior to the start of classes.
