Renovation of Puerto Vallarta Regional Hospital Nears Completion

Governor Enrique Alfaro and the interim mayor Jorge Quintero Alvarado toured the works in this enclosure yesterday afternoon.

They supervised the progress of the renovation, of which the first phase is already concluded, and are at 88% completion of the second phase.

The state president indicated that within the first stage of work, 45.47 million pesos were invested in the areas of operating rooms and recovery, emergency rooms, obstetric surgery, gynecological offices, laboratories, X-rays, main entrance, machine room, and bathrooms and changing rooms of personnel.

Currently the second stage is 88% complete, with an additional investment of 42.4 million pesos that allows the rehabilitation of the neonatal intensive care unit, another part of the machine room, laundry area, area growth and development, as well as the construction of the new kitchen and dormitory area for residents. This will provide a new building allowing residents to have a place to stay and “strengthen our service capacity to have an administrative structure and the necessary personnel for the hospital to function properly.”

Alfaro Ramírez also announced that the commitment to execute a third stage next year has already been assumed, to which 30 million pesos will be allocated, with which this Regional hospital will then be completely renovated.

On this tour they accompanied the governor and the mayor, the Secretary of Health in the state, Fernando Petersen Aranguren; the Secretary of Infrastructure and Public Works, David Miguel Zamora Bueno; the general director of the OPD Jalisco Health Services, José de Jesús Méndez de Lira, among other authorities.
