Mayor Alvarado Seeks More Flexible Restrictions for PV Bars and Nightclubs

This Thursday the fourth working meeting of the Municipal Health Board was held, in which a weekly report on the actions and measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19. 

The new restrictions that will come into force as of today were discussed, as well as proposals for more flexible restrictions so as not to affect the economy of the port. 

The interim mayor, Jorge Antonio Quintero Alvarado, gave a report on the actions carried out through the areas of Civil Protection and Firefighters, Citizen Security, Inspection and Regulations, Tourism and Economic Development, Social Development, Social Communication and the Municipal Sports Council, to raise public awareness about the correct use of the mask and follow health measures such as healthy distance, use of gel, among others. 

Likewise, he pointed out that as part of the prevention actions for the operational and administrative staff of the City Council, all buildings and public areas have been sanitized, and he noted that since there are already a significant number of infected public servants, the decision was made to apply antigen tests to monitor staff. The areas most affected are those that serve citizens, and operational staff of some agencies that help in the daily services of the municipality. 

He indicated that they will seek to present a viable proposal to the State Health Board so that bars and clubs are not shut down by the recent measures that will be applied today, and throughout the month of August. He suggested more flexible measures, so that the economy of the port is not affected, with the commitment that said sector will comply with the established protocols and prioritizing the health of the citizens above all. 

He stressed that the Directorate of Inspection and Regulations, led by José Juan Velázquez Hernández, will continue to monitor not only bars and clubs, but other establishments so that they comply with all hygiene protocols, in addition to monitoring operations at different points of the city, as in the bus station, where compliance with the measures is verified. 

Martha Susana Rodríguez Mejía, director of Beach Tourism at the Jalisco Tourism Secretariat, briefly explained the new measures that will be implemented throughout the state, and announced that the “Reactiva Emergencia” program will be applied with financial support given to the workers of bars and clubs, as well as to the establishments, with the condition of keeping the workforce registered with the IMSS. 

He explained that as part of this program, it will be managed that Puerto Vallarta specifically has an economic exchange in support of this sector, for which he requested that the owners of this type of establishments send the corresponding information to access said exchange and once registration is opened, obtain this financial support that will be granted only during the month of August. 

In turn, Jaime Álvarez Zayas, head of the VIII Sanitary Region, announced that based on the Radar Jalisco program, in the last week there were more than 2,000 confirmed cases in Puerto Vallarta, placing the municipality in sixth place statewide. While in the matter of hospital occupancy in general, there is 80%, and invited people who require a test at the Regional Hospital to contact the Call Center to have an epidemiological profile and based on that, an appointment is made and the test is given. 

As part of this fourth roundtable, Ernesto Sánchez, from the Ministry of Welfare, thanked all the support that has been had to carry out the vaccination process of the Vallarta population, with Puerto Vallarta being one of the municipalities most benefited with the arrival of vaccines, and recognized as one of the inoculation centers with the greatest order, efficiency and speed in the application of doses. It is expected that in the next week the second dose will be applied for the population between 40 and 59 years of age.
