New Cultural Center in Pitillal Just Getting Started

With an investment of almost 3.5 million pesos and in order to bring the different cultural activities closer to the Vallarta population, this Wednesday the acting mayor Jorque Antonio Quintero Alvarado, together with state and municipal authorities, inaugurated the El Pitillal Cultural Center (CCEPi.)

The acting mayor pointed out that culture is important for the city, since it gives identity; so it is essential to preserve it, as well as the traditions of Puerto Vallarta. Urging young people to use this new space helps them achieve their goals and improve their living conditions through personal achievements in arts and culture. He also recognized that culture has been invested in Puerto Vallarta like never before. 

Alvarado then gave thanks to the teamwork and support of the councilors, commenting that today it is possible to inaugurate this cultural center; it is a clear example that to carry out projects and move the municipality forward, the sum of efforts is essential, in addition to bringing the culture to more inhabitants of Puerto Vallarta.

He announced that the CCEPi had an investment of almost 3.5 million pesos in remodeling and equipment, a space that this day officially comes into operation to provide knowledge and culture to many people. The different activities and workshops offered at the center include saddlery, screen printing, design, tailoring, as well as skating classes. 

He stressed that the cultural center is still under construction, and little by little the conditions will improve, so much so that he announced that through the PAICE program, which is the support to the cultural infrastructure of the states, 1.2 million additioinal pesos will be invested to continue improving the facilities. 

Denisse Corona García, director of Planning, Linkage and Sectorial Development of the Ministry of Culture, congratulated the interim municipal president for betting on culture, as well as the director of the IVC and the team that made the CCEPi possible. She stated that they will have the support from the Ministry of Culture to carry out the activities that are planned and collaborate jointly. 

Arturo Israel Dávila López, director of the IVC, mentioned that the city gains a cultural space in an important area nearby to where as many as 60% of the people of Puerto Vallarta live, an area that will be the gateway to the entire culture of this tourist destination, and a place where a new way of expression will be known by the community. 

Lopez thanked the interim mayor Jorge Quintero for all the support he has had in this project, as well as all the people who were involved so that today a new cultural center is realized that will be part of the IVC, and part of the lives and development of the local citizens.
