Inauguration of the Headquarters of the Alternative Justice Institute in Vallarta

In order to resolve conflicts in an agile and efficient way, where the parties involved can reach a mutual agreement, Judge Daniel Espinosa Licón, president of the Supreme Court of Justice and

of the Council of the Judiciary of the state of Jalisco, officially inaugurated the headquarters of the Alternative Justice Institute (IJA) last week at the UNIRSE Puerto Vallarta facilities.

The act was attended by the interim municipal president, Jorge Antonio Quintero Alvarado, who affirmed that the Alternative Justice model is a fast and effective method of conflict resolution for Vallartans, in which both the victim and the accused are prevented from having economic and emotional wear, such as through criminal litigation, for which he thanked the IJA for its support and willingness to expand its services in the municipality.

He mentioned that the benefit is fundamental for citizens, since mediation and conciliation are alternative methods of conflict resolution, solving problems without the need to go to a judge, since it gives the parties the opportunity to agree willingly, with joint cooperation and communication.

"The objective is that among all citizens we maintain harmony in social relations to have a peaceful Vallarta, and solve conflicts that may arise through proper dialogue, through procedures based on orality, procedural economy, and confidentiality, being a priority that this is achieved with total respect for the rights of citizens.”

For his part, Guillermo Raúl Zepeda Lecuona, general director of the Institute of Alternative Justice (IJA) of Jalisco, pointed out that the three levels of government are seriously betting on Alternative Justice, where the state had 11,000 grievances last year in need of mediation, followed by Guanajuato with 4,800, so it is good news that an agreement can be reached by consensus.

He announced that since February 17 the IJA module is already in operation at the UNIRSE facilities, adding that there is an agreement not only with Puerto Vallarta, but also with Bahía de Banderas, since 40% of the users of said headquarters live in the neighboring municipality.

Judge Daniel Espinosa Licón pointed out that the alternative dispute resolution mechanism is the route and the tool that can generate almost efficient justice, since there will be conflicts that cannot be resolved under this modality, but it is sought that around 80% of problems can be solved this way.

He invited the judges to believe in this new method as the correct way to resolve conflicts, thereby achieving better fluency, urging them not to waver on the issue of understanding the culture of peace, which is the correct way to solve the conflict.

This event was witnessed by Jorge Antonio Murillo Guillestegui, coordinator of UNIRSE Puerto Vallarta; José Ramón Godoy, coordinator of the UNIRSE at the state level; Mtro. Álvaro Ladrón de Guevara Macías, General Director of Operations of the State Government; Gabdhiel Iván Novia Cruz and Tatiana Esther Anaya Zúñiga, counselors of the Jalisco State Judiciary, as well as Deputy Juan Carlos Galindo Plazola, president of the Security and Justice Commission of the Jalisco Congress.
